ROVER DEMO - voice recognition for Windows
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
INSTALLATION:
Run the INSTALL.EXE prgram provided and follow the instructions to
install this software. Start Rover by clicking on the Rover Demo icon
in the Digital Soup Program Group. Start the Application launcher
also, if you want to be able to start programs from Rover.
DEMO LIMITATIONS
This demo version is limited to 12 commands, 10 of which are fixed and
you can't change. You can also enter two commands of your own. The
full version of Rover has NO LIMIT on the number of commands you can
have in a dictionary other than limitation imposed by your system
(each command uses 1K of memory).
MAKE USE OF CONTEXT SENSITIVE HELP
Press F1 at any point to get help on the current menu item, dialog
box, or error message. Press SHIFT-F1 to enter help mode, then click
on any button or menu item to get a description of what it does.
CHANGING THE START AND STOP COMMAND SOUNDS
By default, Rover will bark twice when he hears the Start Command and
once when he hears the Stop Command. You can change these sounds by
specifying an external .WAV file for Rover to use in place of the
barks. To do so, add the following lines to your WIN.INI file:
[Rover]
Start=C:\WINDOWS\CHIMES.WAV
Stop=C:\WINDOWS\CHORD.WAV
You will have to re-start Rover for these changes to take affect.
DIGITAL SOUP METER PANEL
The Meter Panel is included with Rover to help in identifying any
problems with your microphone or microphone level. Use the Level
meter to determine the level of background noise in your working
environment and to help determine the placement of your microphone.
Adjust the Noise Floor setting in the Input Settings dialog box
(available in the Settings menu) to 1 or 2 more than the background
noise level in the room. CLOSE THE METER PANEL BEFORE STARTING ROVER.
DIGITAL SOUP APPLICATION LAUNCHER
The Application Launcher is included so you can easily launch
applications with Rover. For example, you can create a macro in the
application launcher called NOTE that starts notepad (or just brings
it to the front if it's already running). To call the macro, press
CTRL-ALT-F12 from any application, type in the name of the macro
("NOTE"), and hit enter. Or in Rover, create a voice command that has
those same keys as its keystroke macro. See the Application Launcher
help system for more information.
